For Me, Happiness Means Working Until 3 A.M.

🌙 Working Until 3 A.M. — That Is My Happiness

— Five Practical Principles for Life in My 70s —

I am now in my seventies.
And there is one thing I know for certain.

👉 I am no longer young.
But at the same time, I also believe this:

👉 I am still capable and active.

That is why I believe it is important not to live a life of constant strain and exhaustion,
but to design a lifestyle that can be sustained for many years.

My goals are simple.

To continue working as a translator until age 85.
To continue enjoying amateur radio until age 100.

To achieve that, I have arrived at the following five principles.

🧭 My Five Principles

1. Work Until 3 A.M. — If It Makes You Happy

I enjoy working in the quiet hours of the night.
No interruptions, no distractions—my mind is at its clearest.

Rather than forcing myself into a morning-person schedule,

👉 Work during the hours that bring you the greatest satisfaction.

That is my first principle.

2. Eat Meat — Don’t Let Your Body Waste Away

Once you reach your seventies, your body naturally begins to decline if you do nothing.

When muscle mass decreases,

* Concentration declines.
* Judgment becomes slower.

👉 Your body is your most important asset.

That is why I make a conscious effort to eat meat regularly.
It is not a luxury—it is an investment in my ability to keep working.

3. Keep a Fixed Morning Schedule — Protect Your Rhythm

Even if you are a night owl, an irregular lifestyle is difficult to sustain.

👉 At the very least, keep your wake-up time consistent.

In my case, I wake up at 9:00 a.m.
This alone helps stabilize my body clock and provides a foundation for long-term productivity.

4. Make Doctors Your Allies — Understand the Medicines You Take

As we grow older, healthcare becomes an unavoidable part of life.

However, the important thing is this:

👉 Do not leave everything to others.

* Respect your doctor’s advice.
* But understand your treatment and make informed decisions.

I also practice a 16-hour fasting routine.
👉 Use healthcare as a system to protect your health.

This mindset is essential.

5. Accept That You Are No Longer Young — Avoid Unnecessary Struggles and Unpleasant Relationships

This may be the most important principle of all.

You cannot do exactly what you did when you were young.
Therefore:

* Do not overexert yourself.
* Keep your distance from people who are not compatible with you.
* Reduce unnecessary stress.

👉 Eliminate as many sources of exhaustion as possible.

That is the key to continuing for the long run.

🎯 Conclusion

I am not doing anything extraordinary.

👉 Work during the hours that make you happy.
👉 Take care of your body.
👉 Maintain a stable daily rhythm.
👉 Make good use of healthcare.
👉 Do not push yourself beyond your limits.

That is all.

🧠 Final Thoughts

Living a long life is not the goal in itself.

👉 The goal is to keep doing what you love.

Translation, amateur radio, and life itself.

Rather than burning out through excessive effort,
I prefer to continue steadily, calmly, and reliably.

That is the way of life I have chosen.
